Low cost winter wheel setup

I'm trying to get a cheap wheel/tire setup for this winter. I'm planning on dailying my G through the Boston winter and as such I want to maximize my my winter traction.

After doing some searching on this forum I decided the best thing to do would be to get a set of 17"x 7" beater wheels and mount 225/50/r17 on all 4 corners. I'm trying to spend less than $400 on everything as I'm college student on a shoestring budget until my next internship starts in January (need wheels/tires before that)

My best bet seems to be to pick up a used set off the forums but the Marketplace seems kinda dead. In a perfect world I'd find a cheap beat to hell set of 17" wheels, dip 'em, and be good to go, but I want other options in case I can't find anything locally.

Does anyone know if
these steel wheels these steel wheels
would fit on my 2004 coupe with the Brembos? I'm currently running 20/25mm spacers if that makes a difference.

On another note, if anyone knows of a cheap set of 17" wheels either in Mass or Southern Maine please let me know.

I have been looking for winter rim+tire combo's for probably 2 months now, checking every other day and for the most part, either the bolt pattern is not for our cars or the size is wrong. Gave up on that and ended up looking into steelies, but ultimately bought a set of used 17x7 OEM rims 7spoke, 4 for 120 from a parts place in Northeast Philadelphia. Condition was decent.

I'm planning on mounting 225/45/17's box set up on these 17x7's and run it on my 05 Sports suspension coupe.

Are there any parts or junker around your way? I looked on Craigslist/Offerup and found some advertising the rims.

Also, I jumped on this deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/10657104-di...34392_10657104 (not sure if we can advertise, sorry in advance) but bought a set of 4 new Hankook winter tires for $300. You could probably find something cheaper on your local CL/Offerup/Facebook market but I didn't want to deal with traveling or a used set.

All in all, $120 for 4 used rims, 300 for new tires, and probably another 60-80 to get them mounted.

I actually just got a set, forgot to update this post. I didn't check with any parts places for 17" rims but now I wish I did since 17 inch tires are cheaper when it comes time to replace them and readily available on CL for pennies like you said. 4 for 120 is a great deal!

I ended up with a pretty clean set of G37 Sedan 18" Enkeis for exactly $400 with like new tires, so now I'm running OEM G37 wheels for both my summer and winter setups! Found them on the myG37 classifieds.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
I'm assuming they have winter tires? A narrower wheel/tire would be better for snow but no matter what you got a great deal.....

Yeah, they have winter tires on them, lots of life left too! 3/4 are clean too, one has some pretty bad rash but for what I was looking for they're actually too nice.

These wheels are half an inch wider than the OEM 17s but I can't imagine it'll make much of a difference, guess we'll find out!
