2005 Brake Dimensions

For a 2005 6MT Coupe w/stock brakes, does anybody have these dimensions (I'm mainly concerned with the front wheel/brake)?

(I'm not looking to buy Bogart's but they have a helpful diagram)

This information would make a great sticky for those (like me) are who are looking to order custom wheels. I have taken measurements like this before and would definitely do it this time accept that my car won't be here for over a month... I'd like to get a jump on the lead time on the wheels by ordering them before the car shows up. If anybody with an '05 could take accurate measurements on this it would be a great help to me and I'm sure to others in the community.

A, E, and F (in that order) are the most important dimensions to have.

But please, only attempt this if you have some accurate measuring equipment (like a dial caliper). Dimensions like "about an inch" aren't going to cut it

Thanks!
Jeff

ok, so people aren't exactly lining up to do this for me

Does anybody at least know the following:

a) are the 2005 brakes bigger than the '04 and earlier non-Brembo brakes?

b) is there only one type of brake now for AT/MT/Sport Package/etc. ?

From the above specs for '05, yes, all the G35's no matter what have the same brakes. Probably a cost cutting move by Nissan to have just one part set to deal with.

Will the 2005 rotors fit on the 2003 even though they are slightly bigger?

Probably not with the '03 calipers. You would have to use the '05 calipers with the '05 rotors. But don't quote me on this as I'm guessing.

Yes...rotors are also bigger! To do the complete swap over to 2005 brakes you need the rotors, pads, calipers, and torque members.

G35Mechanic: you wouldn't happen to know dimension "A" for the 2005 brakes would you? I'm not too worried about dimension "E" because with 19" wheels you've got quite a bit of diameter in there, but "A" could definitely be an issue...

Thanks
Jeff

Hmmm...I thought the 05 MT brakes looked smaller then the 04 Brembos. I really wish they carried over the Brembos! Also, isn't it kind of strange that they use larger rotors in the rear compared to the front? Most braking power is acheived from the front 2 wheels?

The rears may be .37 inches longer in diameter but the fronts are .31 inches thicker in depth. Without doing the exact math, you can see that the fronts have more mass than the rears.

Ill try to get that measurement next time one comes in.

The rear brakes were also improoved. There was a big problem with the slides in the calipers sticking a lot causing the rears to wear out just as fast or faster than the fronts.

The engineers at Work Japan told us today that the wheel disc I wanted to use will clear the '05 brakes, they have apparently tried this combination over there... So I don't need you to spend any time measuring this, but I definitely appreciate the offer!

Thanks,
Jeff

The rears are bigger in diameter to make room for the emergency brake.

Why is that true for the Brembos and not for the standard brakes? Is it because the Brembos have larger calipers? Or is it something with the design of the Brembos that forces the rear rotors to be bigger in diameter in order to accomodate the emergency brake?
