I want to paint my break calipers...Do I need to worry about the warranty being voided at all? Should I check with the dealer? Has anyone else done this themselves?

It will not affect your warranty. If your car is leased they may, however, ask that you paint them back to factory spec upon returning the car.

this of course assume you paint them correctly and don't paint moving parts, pads etc

Ok cool...I saw something on ebay that was a caliper paint kit...should I trust it?? Would it be easier or cheaper to just have someone paint them?

theres not much difference between the caliper paint kits and a cheap can of caliper paint at the local auto store. you will get the same results and save some money. and no, it shouldn't void your warranty. however, when my friend got a little overspray onto his rotor and his brakes started squeaking, the dealer wasnt willing to fix it.

calipers dont need to be removed. make sure you clean them well and then you can either brush directly onto the caliper or mask and spray. spraying is much faster but mask well or there will be overspray. dont worry about being unable to paint every area because from behind the spokes, you wont see anything except the front face of the caliper. good luck to you

kyosho,

Have you done this to your brakes? If so, any pics? How about Dulpi-Color caliper kits at Auto Zone? Thanks.

keith: sorry, i had tons a while back but closed my picture hosting account. check out the new painted caliper thread in the coupe general forum, those are exactly what mine looked like (except on 04 brakes). I've returned them to a black color recently anyway, the red sometimes looks cheap in the sun. and yes, i think i used a can of dupli-color caliper paint that i got from pepboys.
