tein s-techs, cut or not to cut the front oem bumpstops?

I got my springs installed awhile ago, but didn't find out until after that you're suppose to cut the front bumpstops in half I believe it was... I notice that some ppl with the same setup as me has the front a lil lower than mines... I have factory 18's and i am able to stick one finger between the top of my wheel and the fender... but all the other ppl with s-techs, theres no gap at all...

Would cutting the bumpstop make a big difference? How much do factory OEM bumpstops cost? If they're not expensive, i wouldn't mind. I would like to know just incase i sell my car later on and decide to put back all the factory stuff back on...

Don't know if its worth the trouble to take everything apart again just to cut my front bumpstops... not sure what its for anyways.

bump stops do not change ride height.
they are there to save the piston from bottoming out and to prevent the chassis
from bottoming out.

I cut my bumpstops by 1inch on the front running s-techs to provide the similar
piston stroke (travel) as stock. ive yet to bottom out the DSpecs or chassis.

There is one finger gap on the front. it's a perfect ride height.

Kenchan, look at the following pic and can you tell me which dust cover/bump stop assembly the coupe uses?

I'm still drawing a blank on who to get the bumpstop out to cut and still allow them to snap back into the upper shock mount. I'll have to search the post you did were you talking about how you do it.

gsedan35- it's not the right one for sure as the bumpstop on the right one is
part of that boot (like on G20's although G20's had 3 humps, if i can
remember correctly).

I could pry out the bumpstop from inside the boot on the coupe but I dont
remember if it looked like the one on the left either. I did this back last
Fall... hummm... but I did pry out the bumpstop and was able to cut it.

i used a small razor knife and didn't even take the boot off. i pulled it up and reached into the boot, then just cut the bumpstop from inside the boot. you can't tell the bumpstops have been cut from looking at them. they were kinda a pain but worth it.

You reached inside the boot and cut it? How is that possible....I couldn't even come close...all good though, I pulled mine out, and then cut it.

Am I correct in assuming this is the rear bump stop?

& would you trim some of the **** off the bottom?

g35alex- yah, I couldn't reach in and cut mine either. I had to physically pry
mine out, cut, then pop them back in the boot.

euro- you don't need to cut it if you aren't riding on them, but it's good to have the
extra 1" of travel since the stock bumpstops are pretty damn huge.

inTgr- unless you're lower than -2" in the back, you don't need to cut the rear
bumpstops. Im at -1.4" on prokits on the rear and i've yet to bottom out on
them. I only usually drive by myself, but with the wife sometimes, never
had it bottom out.

Thanks, I'm not going too low so I'll just do the front as well.

No, part number 11 is what the FSU say's it is, "upper seat" or upper spring seat. To modify it will effect rear ride height, cutting it or even leaving it uncut and placing a shim above it will lower or raise the rear ride height -3/4" or +3/8". Not to say that cutting it is easy, it's basically a big ole chunk of tire rubber.

The rear bump stop's are located in the same general location as the front's. In the shock dust sheild's. Or part number 7 "bound bumper" (Nissan's parts computer call's the upper seat something really wacky but I can't remember exactly what).
