Chrome or polished?
This is just one of the reasons the bronze color appeals to me.
Besides, after owning a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop for over 3 years, I'm tired of busting my *** to make all the stainless and chrome shine. It took at least a full day to get all of it done (inside and out and under hood)... ...and that didn't include washing/waxing the paint, cleaning the interior, etc.
Something that hides break dust a little doesn't sound so bad either.

It's incredible how some people feel so strongly about the chrome vs. polished issue. More important than the finish, is the STYLE of the wheel, (aside from size ,offset, weight, etc.) If a wheel looks badass in chrome, it's gonna look badass fully polished, it's gonna look badass color-matched, etc... Don't get hung up on the finish. I've seen some ugly wheels in chrome, but just because a wheel is polished doesn't mean I'm putting it on my Z Roadster...

Hey Everyone,
Here is my ugly, ghetto, 70's, obnoxious, overdone, heavy **** wheels. As a matter of fact, I believe they weigh 3 or 4lbs more than the OEM. Anyone want to race? I took care of the weight issue and them some. I could probably load up the car with a bunch of fat chicks and still beat most cars on the road.....look at my sig....hahahaha!

"I don’t know if this has happened to any of you, but condensation trapped between the rim and the tire bead eventually corroded the chrome enough to allow air to escape. This happened on our Saleen after owning it for four years. There was a slow leak in both front wheels. Took the car in and saw the corroded areas when the tires were removed. The tech wire-brushed to problem areas and added bead sealer before remounting the tires. It is a temporary fix that can only be resolved by re-chroming the wheels. The tire shop said it is not a uncommon problem with chrome wheels.
I am shopping wheels now for the G and they are not going to be chorme."
HEED THIS ADVICE.
My last experience with Chrome wheels was on my Black 1993 Lexus 5MT SC300 Coupe. Factory SC400 chromed wheels. After 4 years, 3 of the 4 wheels were leaking. I tried brushing the bead, bead sealer - what a mess. I ended up going aftermarket. I still have those wheels in my garage. Anyone interested?
My Coupe has silver Nismos and I Luv 'em! Chrome - Never, ever again!

Alot of people do not like chrome. I have learned everyone will not agree with your opinion/choice. Alot of the more popular rims on here and other sites I dont like. Althought they may not be my choice that doesnt mean I would wholeheartedly dismiss them. I have had chrome rims for the last 15 yrs. And fortunately have had no probs. I am one of the few that like it and continue to like them. But I could be eccentric and just simply suck
.
.
Aestetically, it really just depends on the look of the car. I don't see my self getting a chrome wheel myself but I have admired many with them. Chrome may have soe issues down the road, but chrome(done correctly) has a much more durable finish and tends to stay that way. Chrome is a hard metal, unlike aluminum. They can take a beating and even some harsh polishing. Polished aluminum tends to scratch with anything but a light, mild polish. Getting inbedded brake dust off a wheel can require more elbow grease to take off quickly, which can scratch the surface of aluminum. Chrome will be able to hold up to even a fine grit steel wool and just smile back at you. Chrome tends to be a better choice in hotter areas of a car. For engine parts, chrome will be easier to keep shining. Polished metal gets dull quickly and requires frequent polishing. Clearcoats tend to yellow with too much heat.

I like how my chrome wheels look, but I may paint them black in a year or two to get a new look. These are the same brand wheels but a different series, but you can get an idea of how they change the look.
