Tire Recommendations

Yo! What’s up everyone?

I don’t post much, I read a lot I have been searching for a resolution to my problem but haven’t found an exact answer. Right now I have the stock tires on my car with the 18's. I don’t know how many other people have had this problem, but those tires are HORRIBLE after 16K miles. They have a tremendous amount of road noise and I can’t stand it, not to mention they are pretty bald. I just took a 300 mile trip on them and I have to drive to Orlando next weekend. So I NEED to order some tires. I wanted to know what everyones opinion is on replacing the stock 18s. I would like a nice handling QUIET tire. Opinions would be great!!! Thanks!!!

I'm Running 19" But The Dunlop Direzza's should work the same in 18" They are Much Cheaper than the Michelins.

You can take a look into the Yokohama AVS db S2 tire. It was at least designed with minimizing road noise in mind. Personally, that is what I'm using on my sedan [245/40R18] and I've been pleased with them so far.

My Stock tires handle great, but they are fairly loud. I've always just thought good handling tires have to make noise on anything but a freashly paved asphault highway.

Yea but these tires I have on there now are rediculous with the road noise.

IllusiveG35C - I would get an alignment right after putting on my new tires. That may be what is causing your tires to make such road noise. Mine are still pretty quiet with nearly 12000 miles on my pilot sports.

I've also heard good things about the Falken FK-451 tires being pretty quiet and handling wet roads very well...

Ah. Well there you go. I still stand behind my recommendation - although this is based on what I have read online. I think my next set of street tires will probably be the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's or the Falken FK-451's. I would also put 245/40/18 up front to dial out some of that understeer. Good luck!

Mike

I just switched from the stock 18s to the 05 19s and the bridgestone tires are much better. They are far quieter and the car seems to ride smoother with just as good if not better traction. I don't think you would be disappointed with the bridgestone potenzas.

I have tried many tires out there on my Z. I had Pirelli Rosso's, great grip horrible tread life and loud, GSD-3's good grip for a while then suck and run pretty $$$, I had michelin pilot sport 2's which is enoguh said. Best tire I have ever had, SO much grip and such great tread life that is scared me. However, a VERY good alternative which I used on my 18's when sponsored by Kumho were the Kumho Mx's. THese tires were amazing, I'd say almost on par with the Michelins but not quite, but for the money too, DAMN is all ic an say.
