Question Rim protection...is it out there?

I contemplated searching and the more I thought about it the more I didn't know what to search for...

Here's my story...

My G has a little over 7K miles on her, I realized it was time to get the tires rotated. Since I have stock 18" wheels with Bridgestone tires I decided to take it to the Firestone Mastercare shop to get a free rotation (they rotate Firestone/Bridgestone tires for free).

I know I know i should've taken it to Infiniti to get it done or done it myself...

Anyway I now have some scuffs from the spinning of the air gun taking my lug nuts off! UGH! All this time taking care of curb rash and now this happens! Anyway only two rims have it and its barely noticeable but I know its there!

My question is...Is there any type of protection to put in the hole of the rim when taking off lug nuts? Seems like its real easy to damage them. I'm sure there is but I'm at a loss as to what to look for.

What you do is wrap some masking tape over a socket of your choice and
tell them specifically to use the socket when removing the wheels off your
car so that they don't scratch the opening.

- or - just remove the wheels off your car and take it to the shop.
that's what I do.

Kinda confused here why would take the wheels off and take them to the shop for a wheel rotation? do you mean getting them balanced?

Make sure that they use a "Thin-wall" socket or you can request that they perform the work by hand.

you can also switch to tuner lugs, basically they are reversed lug nuts, this way you use a key to take off the nuts, and do not have to worry about any damage. Your experience is the main reason why we always suppy tuner nuts with all wheel orders.
