I have a question for anyone else w/ the same setup....when I enter a corner real hard sometimes...going in - not applying throttle...the VDC "slip" comes on. It feels like my front is losing grip...any ideas whats happening?

 

I've been feeling this too recently. I never had this problem with my OEM 18's, but until my new wheels come in I am rolling on some G35x 17's and they cause the slip light to come on when in the past it didn't.

 

I had a 2003 G35c w/stock 18's and brembos and going into corners would always and i mean always the vdc slip would engage and i would almost crash. My new '05 w/19's does the same thing

If you go into a corner and lift the throttle, your tail will tend to slide out, so VDC was kicking in.

If you say your front is sliding, where you are pushing into the corner and not turning, then you are understeering. The G35 is set up to understeer, and stiffer sway bars or equal width tires front/back will help neutralize the handling.

 

Well, the problem I'm having is...this didn't happen w/ my stock 18's, only after I put on the 19's.

And, I would think that the 19's would grip better than my 18's...what with its tall 45-series sidewalls, y'know? Only thing is, the 18's were 235, while the front 19's are only 225.

Any thoughts? Just keep in mind...everything about situations, as far as suspension setup, driving manner, all SAME...only thing changed was 18 inch to 19 in.

 

A couple things....
-you lowered your car so the suspension settings are different than stock. Sounds like you may have to tweak the settings because your front is losing grip first. There is also not as much suspension travel while leaning through a turn.
-What tires did you buy? Or are they the stock Bridgestones?
-A 19" tire may not be grippier than an 18". The shorter sidewall on the 19" is stiffer and therefore will not give as much through a turn.
-Like I mentioned earlier, the staggered sizes of the coupe tires promotes some understeer.
