opinions on winter wheel setup please
I recently bought a used 2004 g35 coupe m6 with brembo.
I live in quebec (canada) and in a few months bad winter will come...4 unmounted blizzack came with car, the guys was running them on factory 18 inches wheel for winter. The two front are in good shape but the rear shows more sign of wear. This is my first winter in a rear wheel car so I want to be carefull.
I know my best option would be to have 17 inch wheels that fit on brembo with new tires...
BUT, since these setup arent cheap, should i try to save the two front blizzak?
buy 2 for the rear and run on factory wheels?
buy 4 18 inches steel wheel with only two new rear tire?
is there a big difference between running on 17 vs 18 in winter?

Just remember for Winter tire setup... that the narrower the tires, the better. It allows you to cut thru the snow and get traction.
I guess you should try and figure out the cost of getting new 18" winter tires (more expensive than 17") along with the mounting/dismounting cost vs. just getting a new set of dedicated 17" with 17" snow tires. You figure in a year to mount, dismount 2x a year... how much it'll cost in the long run. Also, doing that to your rim is susceptible to damage on your rims during the mount/dismount process.
Just a warning for you, rear wheel drive cars DO NOT handle well in the snow. I run 17" with Blizzaks, and in light snow... I have no problems and it works.
Anything more than an 1" or so, you're gonna start to fishtail if you gas it hard. Advise for you would be just to be careful, drive slowly... Go to an empty parking lot, gas it and test out what your threshold for pushing the car is before it slides... it'll guarantee to save your butt when you go driving for reals.
Good luck!

As for aftermarket wheel for summer, I REALLY like the factory 18 inches, that's one of the main reason I dont want to put them is snow...
Those who manage to fit 17 inches on brembo, to you use same size for front and rear tire? tell me what is tire size too.
I wish I could save those two good condition 18 inch blizak i have....a complete set of 17 inches tire with rims is not going to be cheap.....
How about I run 225/45r18 on front and rear on steel 18 inches? would it be THAT bad?

Ok, lets see if i understand..
A nice setup in my case would be 4 18 inches steel rims, two 225/45 r18 blizack on front (i allready own them) and two 225/50r18 on the rear.
Does this setup keep wheel diameter ratio good? would my VDC work as it's suppose to?
First winter with this car so i would like to have the VDC checking my back a bit...

Just looked at tire rack and found out that Blizzaks are now available for OEM 19s for the G35. Total cost comes out to $914. I was thinking of going with a 17" wheel/tire combo which costs a bit more...I'm not sure what to do. I obviously would rather have the 19s on b/c they look sooo nice and Im not sure I can live without them for 4 months. Any thoughts on me spending 900+ on 19" blizzaks?

215/55/17 all around?
might just sell the 2 front 18 inches blizak I have and go on 17 steel wheels.
(BTW, not many choices in 18 inches tire...19 must be even worst..)
