Just got my 2005 5AT Coupe! Wheel Upgrade Question

Hi all! I just picked up my 2005 G35 coupe last week, and is still getting used to driving with so much more power (upgraded from a 2001 Mazda Miata)... I am looking into buying new wheels and tires to replace the factory 6-spoke rims (standard, non-Brembo brakes). From the sticky it seems like these are the specs:

Front: 17"x7.5" +30mm offset
Rear: 17"x8" +33mm offset

I am looking into either 18" or 19". The site I am shopping from gave me these options for 18" and 19" wheel/tire combinations:

18" OPTION
----------
FRONT: 18"x8" 40 offset with 225/45YR18
REAR: 18x9.5" 35 offset with 255/40YR18

=OR=

FRONT: 18"x8" 20 offset with 225/45YR18
REAR: 18"x9.5" 20 offset with 255/40YR18

19" OPTION
----------
FRONT: 19"x8" 40 offset with 255/35YR19
REAR: 19x9.5" 35 offset with 285/35YR19

=OR=

FRONT: 19"x8" 20 offset with 255/35YR19
REAR: 19"x9.5" 20 offset with 285/40YR19

My question is that if the factory offset is 30 what are the effects of going to 40 (that would make the wheel "stick out" of the wheel well, right?) versus 20? I would like the wheels to not stick outside of the well if possible... Should I stay "conservative" regardless of wheel size to go with the +40, +35 offset combination that is closer to the +30, +33 instead of the +20?

I am also trying not to affect the performance (speedometer/gear ratio) too much (not planning on upgrading the suspension yet), so I am wondering if most members are sticking to 18" or all out to 19"?

The wheel I am planning on getting is the Petrol Octanes:

Sorry for the long post - any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Crap, I forgot all about that when I got mine. They are light, very light for sure. I was shocked when I took them out of the boxes.

sizes for 2008 G35x S?

Anyone know what the wheel/tire details are for a 2008 x sport? It just came out and must have 4 identical wheels, but it comes with 18" rims.

Thanks!

I believe the G35x Sport package rims are the same as the RWD G35 Sport front rims.

Questions about the 2008 G35x Sport.

-Is there any difference between the 2008 G35x Sport package vs. the G35 Sport rear drive train besides the fact that the sport is RWD and has bigger brakes?

-Are suspension components the same in both cars?

If I go ahead and buy a G35X sports package, I may want to buy another set of rims, the 7.5" x 18" and 8.5" x 18" rims (from the G35 sport) for summer use only and have the 4 7.5" x 18" rims from the G35X Sport for winter tires.

Does anyone know the size and offset of these wheels?

I think they might be 17x7, but not sure. They are from a 2004 g35 sedan upgrade package.

Thanks.

I thought that both were identical except for the awd and one other feature - the wheels in the awd are not staggered. With staggered wheels (larger in the back) I've never seen the same profile tires applied on the wider rears. Apparently certain profiles are only available in certain rim widths. This is not good for G35x owners because if you install the G35 wheels on the G35x the slightly lower profile on the wider rear tires would decrease the diameter and make the rear wheels circumference slightly smaller than the fronts and this would be VERY bad for the awd, and could void the warranty.

My understanding is that the sport package on both cars gave you the following:

I'd still like to know the actual specs on the G35x S wheels - numbers?!

    Cheers,

Quick question the stock 17s on the 05/06(7spoke) are the same as the 18s from the coupe? Only difference is that they are 18s with a 35offset correct? If so what size spacer would be needed to fit it on a sedan and what would be the best size tire for it 245/50/18?

Do we know the weight of all OEM wheels? In particular, I'd like to know the weight of my 06 sedan wheels (I believe they're 7-spoke)
