Track Wheels
Track Wheels
I am ready to buy a set of track wheels, and wanted to know if either of these two wheel combinations will fit on my 2005 sedan.
18"x9" w/ 38MM offset F/R
OR
18"x8" w/ 30MM offset F/R
I plan to run the same sizes front and rear.
Also, what would be the best size tires to run? I was hoping I could get 255/40/18 all around- if they would fit.

Been looking into a track setup as well.
FYI - many 18" 255 tires "ask" for a 8.5" rim width, minimum. Especially a lower profile tire (40 ratio as opposed to a 45 ratio).
I'm trying to decide between 18" and 17" rims... if I go 17X8 rims... many 255/45 tires are rated for an 8" rim so they would fit. Many 255/40 tires, though, ask for an 8.5" rim width.
Decisions, decisions....
I don't care about bling, I want performance.
A 17" setup will be a few pounds lighter per wheel. Also, tires are cheaper (as well as the rims).

I guess nobody around here actually drives their cars hard.
I'd also like to know if 17" wheels are going to cause issues down the road with upgraded brakes. If so, that might be the deal-breaker, forcing me to get 18" wheels...
