bigger new tires
just put ps2 245-35-19 and 265-35-19 . I went through my factory 050a in 7200 miles. While they did perform well they were noisy and short lived. I had 2 ax and 300 miles of tracking. I really debated the size issue and performance. After staring at the discount tire sizing chart for many hours, i went with these sizes. My main concern was the handling because thats what i do alot. Looking at the chart these sizes match the stock front to back offset to very close ratios. The only difference is diameter which equates to 1 mile per hour slower at sixty. I figure the minimal smaller diameter would off set the heavier tire. That feels about true in acceleration, seat of pants of course. First is that the ps2 are way quieter than 050a, the steering response is just a little bit slower than the original size driving down a straight road jerking side to side. I took several sweeping turns and the new size feels equal to if not better at speed and initial turn in. By no means is it mushy/delayed feeling. Second is the grip is amazing, its like ive read, they just hang on. It reminds me of my wrx with race tires, they grip when you think they shouldnt. It takes more effort to get the back to slide. I do have pulley,y-pipe,intake,mrev,springs and sways set stiff. The best way to describe the look is that the tread is now even with the edge of the factory 19s. The tire footprint is just as flat as the original tires looked. These sizes again very closely match the original stagger based on diameter, width, circumference. You just get about an extra 3/4 inch of rubber on the ground. I will be doing a 2 day DE at the new houston track in January to see how this set up does. The look is better, there is no bulging sidewalls. There is no problem with the vdc, it works normal, which is only on in the rain. The specs on the bigger tires for weight is actually equal to or greater. I am running 35 psi at this point. On a side note, MREV has made this car a total blast to drive.

Can you comment in this thread? I am looking for more info on getting onto a road course track (not autocrossing in a car-park).
