Tire storage
Tire storage
Have a leased G35 auto with 15k on the stock Goodyear tires. These tires suck & are starting to perform terribly due to the rain. I'm thinking of swapping all 4 for Pilots. Since I don't put more than 9k a year on my car, I figure by the time my lease is up (3 more years, total of 5), I could swap the old stock tires back before I turn in the car.
Question is...
Will the stock tires look fine after 3 years of storage? They will be stacked outside exposed to the elements. I can probably put a tarp over them but they will still be exposed to the heat & rain. Anyone have any experience here?
My goal is to enjoy the Pilots that I will be paying dearly for & replacing them with the stockers before & return the car to the dealer.

I am looking at a Brookstone catalog right now that has a "tire garage" for $50. It is a large canvas bag that you can store 4 tires in either inside or outside to protect them and keep them looking new. The item # in the catalog is T510362. I tried to find it on their website and it isn't coming up. I would think you could call the 800 number and order it if you were interested.
heat, humidity, sunlight, oils are all bad for tire storage.
make sure you wrap them individually in dark colored garbage bags and
store them under some shelter away from sunlight and preferrably from
humidity.
