Rims for track use..

Hey guys...this weekend was a BLAST for me.. i tracked my car at Laguna Seca (NASA HPDE program). It was definitely worth trying...i am so addicted now..haha.. anyways... I am planning to get either 17" or 18" wheels for track use only..still struggling through which one is more suitable for the G... and what is the widest width i can use for the G coupe without adding spacer?

3 criterias
1)must be light
2)must be durable
3)affordable price
planning to spend $1000 or less

any recommendation for rims under my criteria?

I don't know about the G35, but for my track car, I have Kosei's and was thinking about SSR, both are very light and inexpensive. I think SSR has larger wheels. Spacers are all about offset - up to a point. You generally want to try to buy a wheel in the width you want with the correct offset.
Check the tire availabilty, cost, DOT legal or track only for both sizes - that will help tell you which size to get too.

If you have bigger bucks - BBS.

For track rims, go with 17's. Some that meet your criteria:

5 Zigen - FN01R-C - 17x8 +25F, 17x9 +35R or 17x8 +25F, 17x10 +25R
The FN01R-C also comes in a 17x9 +15, but not sure how that would sit up front.

5 Zigen - Pro Racer GN+ - 17x8.5 +22, 17x9.5 +22

FN01R-C - pros: cheaper, lighter. cons: not PERFECT offset/sizes
Pro Racer GN+ - pros: good fitment, cons: a little more epxensive, possibley a little heavier also.

Those are some of the cheaper rims you can get, Volk TE37's, CE28's, SSR Copetitions, etc might come in easier to find sizes/offsets and are lighter, but they cost a fortune.

There are a few threads on this topic in the Autocross/Road forum on this board. You'll find all the info you need there!

FN01R-C 17x10 +25 w/245/40 in front, 17x10 +12 w/275/40 in back.

the pic is of the car right off the jacks, I forgot to take one with the suspension at static rest. I looks nice in person. I couldve gone with 255/40 but I found these tires fore really cheap...they're used at $100 with lots of life left on them. They're Goodyear GS CS roadrace tires...can't go wrong with these. But you can go with 255/40 in front and be clear...the rear sticks out a little bit, so if you lower your car too much, you'll see some problems with the fender. you can go +25 in back (+25 all around) as well. you cant try and use 275 up front, but i know for sure 255 will clear ESPECIALLY behind ind the tire toward the suspension.
