Hey
Im looking to buy some new rims for my G. probably 19" Volk SF Challenge in gunmetal. But i dont have a garage. I have a open driveway and i live in a pretty safe neighborhood. But im still concerned. I also live in nyc and park my car on the streets alot. Its so easy to jack wheels even with wheel locks. Are aftermarket wheels covered by insurance?
How many ppl here have aftermarket rims with no garage? am i over reacting or what

aftermarket wheels are covered by insurance if you call your company and tell them to insure them for you, other wise no there not.

Depends who insures you. My insurance company has always covered mods and wheels. No one in my family keeps a car stock and anytime something bad happens our insurance always had our back- even mods. I remember when I bought my supercharger for my Si I called them ahead of time to make sure they'd cover it and they said as long as it's street legal they'd cover it. No additional charges. However, they will factor in depreciation. And for God's sake take pictures and keep receipts.

i dont but I do have MEAN chihuahuas!! lol and it doesn't hurt to lock your gate and park as close to the house as possible
that way, why even bother on only stealing to wheels

i have rims and no garage. As a matter of fact, i have challenges in gunmetal as well
for me, i have 2 dogs that bark at the slightest sounds. My room is also next to my driveway with a window. I'm pretty sensitive to sound. But my neighborhood is really safe so i hardly have to worry.

haha thats funny cuz my room is also next to my driveway. everytime i hear a sound i look out my window. i also have the nismo front bumper =). well its on the way. reason im getting new rims is because i ordered the nismo front bumper and kenstyle sides. im thinking it would look kinda funny with the stock 18s. did you get your bumper on first or the wheels? if it was the bumper, how did it look with stock wheels.Originally Posted by imalazeeass

wheels was the very first mod i did. I had my wheels for about 7 months before doing anything. I just recently got the body kit. I think any kit would look weird without wheels. So I would get wheels before anything else.

so true. you can enjoy the looks of the wheels alone for as long as you'd like, but any car with a kit and stock rims looks tacky and out of place to me.wheels was the very first mod i did. I have a garage, but just to be safe, I spent a few bucks more and went with the McGard locks. They require 2 keys, one for the lugs and 1 for the locks.

I dont have a garage and I live in Qns too. However, if they want it, they'll take it. 'Bout 2 yrs ago they came in my driveway and "borrowed" 2 of the rims on my M3. Last year they tried to steal my neighbors car and shot at him when he came outside... Im still about to get some wheels for this coupe though ... its jus' one a tha risks of livin' here, but Im sure U already know that

If they are stolen, no (different for some insurance comp.).
If in an accident, yes.

doesn't really matter where you live. someone can follow you home,
people working around the house/complex can see your car, tell his/her
friends, then word gets around.
but yah, your insurance should cover for your wheels. at least my
statefarm does. and no, i don't park my weekend cars outside.

Just talk to your insurance before installing the wheels. I think most insurance companies do cover aftermarket parts.

You might also consider that the price of the OEM wheels is like $900 per wheel from Infiniti. Your aftermarket wheels may be less than that. So if your company only wants to pay for stock wheels that are stolen, you could come out ahead, buy the aftermarket wheels and have money left over!
