Q? to all with aftermarket wheels and TPS...
I have bought OEM 18s with winter tires last year, and have put them on in November. The Tire Pressure Sensor (TPS) light never went on, so I assumed the wheels have the sensors and everything is fine. Last month on a 2hr trip going about 70mph, the TPS light went on. The next day I checked the pressure when cold and it was about 35psi which is correct and the light dissapeared after the car was restarted. Than this weekend on the highway on my way to the Infiniti dealer for service it happened again. I made the dealer look into it, and he said I do not have any sensors in my wheels. Can anyone tell me if their light is on after putting aftermarket wheels on, and explain what's the deal with my TPS light and why it only goes of after a long trip on the highway?

I've heard most people that use aftermarket wheels WITHOUT the TPMS have the light come on for a few days or a short period of time then it goes away.
If your lucky then your TPMS will work with your aftermarket wheels, depending on what wheel you get

mine does that too, the TPS symbol goes on and off randomly ever since I got my wheels. Don't worry about it, just be sure to check your TPS when you fill up at the gas station or something. Real bad to go with tires lacking air..
Funny I found this thread
My rear 19" rim was stolen so I purchased a new one along with a new sensor
The TPMS light would come on after about 45-60 minutes of driving on the highway 70-80 mph
The dealer recalibrated the whole system and the prob still happens
I checked the tires when the light comes on and it is above 35 psi
once I turn the car off the light goes away
GET this I had the car at the dealer and the TECH gets all pissed saying that the car hasnt thrown a code at all.
So I guess I am nuts, I called infiniti customer service and they state that unless the car gives a code the dealer can not get paid for the replacement part so they cant just change wheel sensors at will
Unless the car gives them the code there is nothing that can be done

I could not use my TPS with my Volk GT's so I don't have them. My light turns on at 45 miles straight.

i have my stock 18s (winter tires on now w/ tpms)...however when i had my rays 19s on...after a long drive 20-30 min id get the light sensor turn on. this is normal...run a search on the forum...if you dont use the stock TPS on aftermarket wheels this will happen. nothing to worry about. just need to check your aftermarket wheels PSI every so often manually. only a few aftermarket wheels will work w/ the TPS...one i know of is the volk ce28n..most deep lip wheels wont work w/ TPS from what i recall reading here...
