Plugging 19" tires?

I have the OEM 19" tires and one of them got a nail in the middle of the tread. I plugged the tire and was told that it will be 100% like new. Is this true? Will the tire still hold up to 150+ mph (not that this is necessary)?

What would you guys suggest?

Thanks,

who told you that? i have NEVER liked plugs, they arent as effective as a patch. i always prefer the patch over the plug, and im not sure if its going to be as effective as it was b4

They're not the greatest... depends how good they put them on i guess...

Heres one story to read. I know its not G35 related but its a good read just to hear someone else's experience.

"I have had my car for 2 years. Not long after I got it I had a puncture.
At that stage, advice from BMW was have it repaired.
The tyre shop did not have the technology to remove the RFT from the wheel so they just plugged it from the outside.

Yesterday, just after going over a speed bump at speed, I heard a loud pop and immediately the flat tyre warning came on, no air at all in the tyre.

The same tyre shop, now with new technology, removed the tyre from the wheel and found that it was the original plug that had been spat out!! Now with the tyre off they did a proper mushroom patch repair and all's well.

Streak"

Source is here

I myself have 3 plugs in 2 of my tires... they were in the rear now I have rotated them to the front. Its been about 5-7K miles since I plugged them. They all happened within 2 months of each other and so far I havent had a problem, they hold air fine. I dont trust them though I'm not afriad to drive on them since my tires are run-flats so if they go POP and I suddenly lose all air pressure on the freeway it wont be as big of a deal as with regular tires. If they were regular tires I would think twice and be a little more careful.

IF the place you got your tire fixed at is reputable at all then they should have used a patch plug. I work for firestone and that's all we use. and about the tire handling up to 150mph... NO it will not. once you have a tire repaired you can say bye bye to the speed rating. I'd say keep it below 120 at the most.

if the tire was repaired using a patch (T shaped), then you're ok.

you loose one speed rating when you fix a tire, but for street you should
be ok.
