I gave the 245/35/18's a shot and they fit just fine. No problems with any ground clearance over speedbumps or high centering on driveways.

The added benefit is that the car feels a lot quicker off the line because of the 8% decrease in overall diameter over the stock tires. Acceleration in all gears feels much better and braking is fantastic. The car is also lower by over an inch (almost 2" in the back) so that helps the center of gravity.

I have a feeling I'm going to need a good front sway though - the slaloms aren't feeling that crisp. Another thing I have to get used to is the G's large wheelbase - it's a big car.
