Thumbs up POLL: Data Logger + Video Price Point.

Hey guys,

I am in the middle of deciding the price point for the Video + Data Logger (VDL) that I am creating. Basically this unit will record telemetry such as speed, G force, RPM, and Lap Times based on GPS tracking. This unit will also simultaneously record and overlay video via a video camera that will be included with the base unit; perfect for immediate viewing in between track sessions.

Base Unit includes:
1. VDL unit
2. 1x Camera
3. SD card
4. Cigarette lighter power adapter.

This unit is universal for all types of cars. Most track guys will love this unit and I believe enthusiasts like yourself may be interested as well for other applications.

What is the price range that you are willing to buy this product for? Please Vote!

Thanks for your time and I will update you guys on the status of this unit. I think this unit will be available by the next SEMA and I will most likely be selling this item as a sponsor on this site.

Cool, I'd price it dependant on camera specs.

As cheap as possible so I can buy one! ;-)

Great invention. I would get it for when I jam through the hills.

camera specs would probably be 520 lines and low lux(approx: 0.X lux)

Would one be able to use a different camera with the unit? Or is everything proprietary?

I'm actually in the market to buy a GPS data logger, and possibly video overlay as well. One of my biggest criteria, is the useability and features of the software. This is what really makes or breaks a product for me, since this is what determines how well the user can manipulate the plethora of data that is captured, to his advantage.

As far as price point ... hard to say without more details on features etc. But I would definitely price it pretty well below the current market offerings, since it is a new, unproven, un-reviewed system for now.

right. thanks sony. hmm what kinds of manipulation of the data that is captured would you like to do? Are there any big analysis we SHOULD have in our software?

Thanks
