Repair small key scratch
Hi,
Some A-hole left this gift for me on my 4 day old G.
I'm quickly past the anger and moving on to the, just dealing with it part.
Here is what I plan on doing, tell me if it should be ok or if I should do something else.
1. Clean and prep the scratched area
2. Fill in with a few light applications of a colour matching Infiniti paint pen or equivalent.
3. Have my friend (a detailer) wet-sand and polish the area. He will soon be polishing the entire car. (Dealers just don't know how to wash a car, even for new delivery)
4. Proceed to have the clear bra installed which will be over this area of the fender. I already had an appointment for the clear-bra install next Friday.
TIA for you opinions

Because its brand new, I don't think you, or myself would be happy with touch up paint on a fair sized scratch on the drivers fender where you'll see it everytime you hop in. I would definitely recommend having a body shop fill/spray the scratch and have it done properly. I know this may set back your clear bra install but I think its worth the wait.
I work in paint repair at the automotive plant I work at and 98% of the time a scratch repair isn't an easy touch up. We normally fill with primer to get the scratch to its original height and then spray color to match. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me

Thanks for the advice.
Today is a far better day than yesterday. I had to make a trip back to Guelph Infiniti to return the spare key for the G35X I returned (my wife had it with her on her business trip).
Anyway, I showed the dealer the scratch and to my delight he said "don't worry about it, CARSTAR owes me a favour". My car goes in next Wednesday to be painted...gratis!
You are right though; it would have bugged the **** out of me if I didnt get it done right.
