Average cost for an Oil change?
#20
I thought you are supposed to get your oil changed every 3k miles? Or is that for the regular oil and if you use synthetic it will last 6k miles.
Also does anyone find the oil level checking guage hard to use? It is in such an awkward place that I can't even get a proper reading on how much oil I have in the car.
Last question: Do we need to use a special flushing fluid before you get an oil change to get rid of the "old" oil or no?

Yea it sucks, let it sit after filling it or engine activity, I find that its very easy to get the level after an hour or two. Also pulling the dipstick out toward the intake will help so it does not pick up some oil that might be on the block side of the dipstick.
No, just undo the drain bolt and let it all out, change the filter close up the drain bolt and fill it up.

DIY is a good idea but my plan is a step above. Using AMSOIL 10W/30 along with a K&N filters and buy them on line....won't discuss the cost. Then I take my coupe to a friends shop and use his lift that way I check tire pressure/brakes and clean the undercarriage while the oil is draining. Back on the ground I check all fluid levels when adding the new synthetic. This way I have the confidence I can drive my G35 anywhere without concern, knowing the job was done right! Laying on the cold garage floor is no longer something I consider fun....LFOL!
