Do the rear brakes last longer than the front?

My brakes have been sqeaking and howling a whole lot. I had the fronts replaced as the rotors were clearly worn, but didn't do the rears and the squeaking and howling persists like crazy. I know that the G's are known to have noisy brakes, but the sqeaks and howls every time I come to a stop are ridiculous. I'm thinking of taking a look at the rear brakes....

If it were me, I'd take the pads out (all 4 corners) and inspect them for ample thickness, and rough up the friction material as well as the rotor (which should be checked for runout),-- re-install everything and bed the brakes in -- which apparantly can be done easily by simply braking gently from 30 mph to 15mph about 30 times in succession.....
Check for other procedures-- I'm sure there's others and pick one and do it.
They say it makes a world of difference to the effectiveness of your brakes and to cutting down on noise and screech from glazing......
.......and yes the fronts will wear out much quicker than the backs since they do the majority of braking......(provided you don't do much drifting and purposely locking the rears to slide the rear out. )
Don't forget to do the 'bedding' after new pads and rotors are installed too.
