Exhaust timing or ECU flash? (see video)
Hey all,
I attempted to hijack an earlier thread dealing with this and it was unclear whether the ultimate response was directed at me or the original poster (whoops).
Anyway, I have a 2007 G35x 5AT with a problem. I caught it on video:
I am exerting constant pressure on the gas pedal when this happens. And I haven't noticed any transmission problems (it seems to shift just fine other than this slight stutter from a full stop).
It only does this occasionally, right when I try to gently accelerate from a full stop. It will only happen for about the first 10 minutes or so of driving, then seems to disappear. Restarting the car does not always make it come back.
In the other thread, it was suggested that it could be the exhaust valve timing retarder. Although I am still under warranty, my nearest dealer is 90 minutes away. What can I try to exclude here before going to the dealer (and how can I ensure the dealer can fix this issue? I hope catching it on video is a good start in that direction . . .). Will driving it like this damage it until I can get to the dealer?
Can anyone weigh in? Thanks!
