Dash light dimmer?
My G35 instrument light dimmer doesn't work well. The variable **** adjusts from very dim to medium, then clicks to full brightness. I'd like something in between. I'm working on modifying the dimmer, which appears to be contained in the dial **** assembly. Can someone with a service manual tell me about the wiring to this control. It has 3 wires. Or does anyone have a "backup" copy of the manual I can borrow?

Re: Need manual to help solve...
Take the dimmer out and measure the resistance across the pins with an ohmmeter. I was going to do it but haven't gotten around to it. That should give us enough to add an additional resister accross the pins for more range of resistance total. I suspect 2 of the pins will have an ON/OFF relationship (full bright) and the other will have a variable resistance with the adjuster.

can't you just connect an op amp, which will allow you to control the resistence thus the current going thru the wires to vary the intensity of the gauge lights? might be an easier option and allow more variability.

Dimmer is complex circuit...
I opened mine up. It does have a pot, but the pot controls some unknown 14-pin ic, which appears to control a large transistor. So I wanted to know more before I started modifying it. I'll probably get up the nerve to open it up this weekend and either figure it out or burn it up.
