Philips 85122 vs. 85122+

I'm interested in a D2S bulb that colorshifts over time so I can get a bit of a whiter look in my new '06 colormodded projectors. From what I understand, the OEM D2S 85122+ bulbs do not colorshift and thus retain a slight yellowish color for their entire life span.

So since I do want a bit of a whiter bulb, the 85122 are my best choice then, correct? What's odd is that when I go to HID Planet, they say the 85122+ is 4300+k while the 85122 is 4100k. I've found this inconsistency about the color temps of both these bulbs a lot lately, and want someone to clear this up once and for all.

I figured HID Planet would at least get it right...but should I assume they're wrong and I should get the 85122 (rather than the 85122+) if I want a whiter looking bulb over time?

Thanks,
B

HIDplanet is wrong, 85122+ is 4200k, 85122 is 4300k and colorshifts to ~4800-5000k after ~100 hours. Other options include osram xenarc 4300k's and GE's

I'm still trying to find some 85122CM's. If not, I guess I will have to look into GE.

redlude97: How much do 85122's go for? Will they look whiter than 85122+'s right out of the box? I know after 100+ hours they will for sure.

Thanks redlude.

I'll probably go with the Philips 85122 then. I found a distributor that carries the 85122CM but they won't respond to my emails (they don't sell to the public).

Don't know much about the Osram and GE's. How do they compare? Where can I read more about them?

new 85122's can be had for ~$65 new on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-PHI...spagenameZWD1V
They will look almost exactly the same as a 85122+ bulb when new, but will colorshift after a while. You can search for pics of the Osrams and GE's on HIDplanet, the osrams seem to colorshift to a more pinkish/purplish color, while the phillips are more blue/purplish from what I've seen
