Hi everyone, I know it is an old thread but for those of you how are interested my car now is totally repainted. My insurance decide to cover the damage because it was a chemical splash, it was like brake fluid, the paint has holes through it and damaged all the way to the metal. However, repaint was the only way to fix it, my insurance covered total price of $5400. I can post pictures if someone is interested. The car looks better than new it is excellent paint job, I still can’t believe it.
P.S. thank you guys for your time and advices.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but if you already have rust then take it to the dealership. My '03 has a 7 year corrosion warranty, which I forgot about. I figured it was worth bringing this thread back so you (or others) don't forget about their corrosion warranty before it's too late (like I did).
I believe I'm experiencing some circles of clearcoat failure on my roof. I'm going to wash it, clay it, then test polish, and rubbing compound to see what happens.

Clear Coat Failure 2004 G35x
I am also new to the forum and am writing for the same reason. Just above the back window on the roof, our clear coat has formed bubble looking spots and isn't there anymore. The paint appears to be fine. We thought at first we had the dreaded paint cancer but on closer inspection, it seems to be just the clear protective layer. I also would be interested in the best solution to stop the problem. We don't live where there is horrible pollution but we are a mile high. No we don't live in Denver, we are in Albuquerque. We are also about a mile high. Any advise would be appreciated. Our car is also a dark color, navy blue.

No idea what you can do to prevent it. it seems like the bare metal is rusting under the paint, but that only really makes sense once the bare metal is exposed. My car did the same thing and i've repainted the roof, and need to repaint basically the back half of the car now.
I suspect the paint really doesn't like UV, so keep it waxed well and in the shade often. The failing paint on my car seems to be on the back half of my car, which tends to face south when parked during the day.
