Poor Car...Help on how to fix clear bra

Car is 1 month old... Driving on Freeway and the car in front of me must have driven over what i think was a blown out tire. Kicked up on my car and all i saw was a black piece flying on my windshield.

Got to the shoulder... fixed my side mirror which was folded in because of the impact and peeked out a little but too dangerous on the tiny shoulder.

Continued on to my destination to take a look at it which was 3 exit away and this is what i found.

So the side panel was easy to clean, left a reubby residue...cleaned it there with a microfiber towel and water all of it came off, there are still some tiny scrathes but cant notice unless your really looking for something will try to use scratch-x after work 2m.

(This is on Clearbra not the car) Was able to get some of the scuffs off the hood with some wax but a lot of it is still there. I'm not sure if the clear coat on my venture shield was taken off or whats still on the hood is rubber. Can't get it off. This is what it looks like now

Any help would be great...is there something i can do to try to get rid of the scuffs on the clear bra where the marks are. Should i just replace it or just live with it for a while then replace it.

Thanks

Lucky for you the clear bra did it's job Unfortunately there's not much you can do to fix the appearance of the bra. You could leave it on and let it continue to protect your car for now, or bite the bullet and spend the money to get that part replaced if the appearance really bugs you. I'm not sure how much it would cost. I usually buy bulk sheets and install it myself, but I'll admit I'm not the best installer and I end up with some scuffs and tiny bubbles...but all I care about is protecting the paint.

OUCH! Sorry to hear that. I've noticed that some goo gone helps get the rubber-y stuff off (like road tar that gets stuck on the splash guards). Some polishing compound should help, and a nice coat of wax. Not really sure how to fix a clear bra tho. Good luck with that.

From the pics, I can't tell how deep the damage is to the clear bra -- i.e. is it a gouge or a slice? If it's just scratching/scuffing, you can treat the clear bra just as if it is paint. You can use various degrees of abrasive polishes and pads with a random orbital and work to polish out the scratch.

Tape the line between the clear bra and the paint so that you don't over lap onto the paint, but try to buff out the bra and see what happens.

Looking again at the pics, I think you should be able to buff these marks out.

Go to the "Ask a professional detailer" thread and post the pic. He has always given good information. If you need to replace it, you can DIY the hood part fairly easily and buy a pre-cut peice on the web.

Looks like you got away almost easy.
Clear bra looks Fvcked though. +1 on replacing it with a pre-cut piece.

The worst you will have to do is replace the clear bra. It might be expensive but it beats doing paint work.

Thanks

Lucky me the clear bra was on..it did its job. The marks are like the clear coat that was on the clear bra was stripped off. NOt glossy anymore but a little rough and hazy.

When i run my hand over it some parts area little shallow(dips in alittle bit) and also there is one line that seems as though it was taken off a ilttle chuck of the bra.

Havent had time to really look but when i left this morning it didnt look as bad and i thought it did yesterday. I might be able to live with it for a while.

This right here is the best reason why people should get the clear paint protection. This would probably be over a thousand worth of paint repair if it wasn't on.

Glad to see that the clear bra worked well. I just installed one and I'm glad I have it protecting my very soft paint.

Had the same thing happen to my black G35X clear bra, had a detailer buff it and it took care of 90% of the problem. I'm just going to wait until it gets a couple years of abuse before replacing it. Hope that helps, I was not happy either but buffing really helped.

+1

It sacrificed itself for your paint. Take it off and have a hero's funeral.
