Re: homelink?
Apparantly, you can convert to a homelink equipped rear view.

Re: homelink?
A company called Gentex makes the rear view mirrors w/ Homelink. Check out the pic, it's exactly the same! I don't know how you would wire it up though.

Re: homelink?
the installation manual is on their site. for the homelink auto-dim model, its just one 12-volt power wire and one ground wire.
now if you get the mirror directly from infiniti it will probably come with the actual connector attached so you can simply plug into the existing wiring harness (under dash). i can't promise you this but toyota also uses gentex and thats how they do it. basically a 5 minute mod.

Re: homelink?
I bought the autodimming homelink gentex from a different site for my other car. It is the exact mirror in my G35. (Gentex is the OEM)
Anyways, it will come with the wiring harness. I looked at the mirror in my G35, it is the exact same wiring harness.
But anyways, it is actually 3 12v power lines, not one. One is for autodimming (hot with ignition), one is for homelink (always hot), and one is to undim when in reverse (hot when tranny in reverse).
Only took me like 5 minutes to install in my other car.

Re: homelink?
It was for a pontiac GTP, that I was replacing a busted autodimming mirror, with a new homelink one. I didn't connect the reverse power lead, because the Pontiac came with a different brand autodimming mirror. So it accomplished the same thing, by having a +12v line that was hot with the ignition, but went cold when put in reverse.
I just cut off the other power line. (I had to cut off the harness, and transplant it, becaues the other car had a different harness. I'm not sure if G's without the premium package still have the wiring harness installed for the mirror, if so your install may be really easy. All I had to do was run an additional power for the homelink. I just took down the headliner, and ran the wire up there, behind the pillar, and into the fuse box, where I just connected it to an AUX port that was always hot. When all was said and done, it looked factory installed.

I'am looking to get a Homelink rear view mirror put in my ride, but the dealer said it can't be done if it didn't come with it. Is this true? I have a 2004 coupe, and I need one.
