Man I get the airplane in the distance sound from the rear somewhere. I think it's just the right side rear, but I don't know for sure. The sound on my car increases in pitch with the speed. It's not very loud at low speeds, but I do hear the low pitched sound. I was hoping it was the tires since I have the camber issue with the lowered set up. About two years ago I changed to Tokico springs to go with the D spec struts/shocks the car came with. But I guess it may be a bearing issue. I guess I'll now be searching for the DIY for the rear bearing.

Has to be the wheel bearing, if you have plenty of thread on the tires.

Awww nuts. So what is the failure process like for these things. Do they seize and heat up and catch fire or explode or something? The Infinity people told me it'd be about $600 and I'm not in a hurry to give them that kind of money. I really wanna do this myself, but they told me that on the rears the axle has to come out or something. I'm guessing the bearing assembly has to be packed with grease or something too and that may be a bunch of stuff I don't need to be fooling with.

They don't seize or fail right away. Overtime it may separate and make removal more difficult and expensive, by having to replace the whole spindle. The noise might get louder and I've noticed it makes shifting between gears more difficult when driving a standard with a busted wheel bearing.

The axle does need to come out. It might be tricky if you don't remove it. The axle is not hard to take out. All you need is a long pipe, 1/2" breaker bar, and 32mm (I think) socket.

Nothing need to be packed with grease. You can buy the bearing from the dealer and have it pressed onto the hub you take off your car.

I replace the fronts a few years ago. I started to hear this wobble sound, even after I replace new tires. I recently replaced the rears as well.

I just had both of my rear wheel bearings replaced on my 2004 Coupe with 48,000 miles. The noise was getting so bad that anyone sitting in the passenger seat would comment on it. I originally thought it was my tires and had them replaced. The dealership replaced them under the Infiniti Elite warranty. Who would think that wheel bearings go bad after 48,000 miles? I may be an old timer, but I always remember wheel bearings lasting way over 100,000+ miles! Another example of cost cutting by today's manufacturers.

I guess that must have just been a fluke. I have about 200K now and I just started hearing the noise within the last few months. I think just my rear right is bad, but I'm not sure. But 48K? That would depress me. I have no Elite warranty.

My front driver bearing is finished and it was very easy to notice. Just find a good road and then turn to the right a bit and then turn to the left a bit. When I turned to the right a bit, it made the driver side bearing to give a loud hum and vibrations. There is no play at all on the driver's wheel.

So Phil, it seems as if you're saying that the rear hub and bearing for the 03-06 sedan come together. I thought they only came separate.

My rears went out within 10k of each other. Looked bad when pulled apart. One front started making noise so I replaced them both. This was around 100k.

The rears came seperate from the hub and had to be pressed together.
