285's for rears on 19" GTVs ?

I've got 19" GTVs on order and im planning on putting 285/35's Toyo's on the rears to try and give it as much of an aggressive look as possible. I dont see many Gs on here with this size. Is this too big ? Are there any issues with 285s im not aware of ? Please let me know while I still have a chance to change my mind...

More info...

Yes the rims are 10.5 with +27 offset. Im being told with this set up and the 285s that I will not have to roll my fenders, even with a 1" drop but it will be very close. Im ok with rolling fenders slightly if I have too, im just wondering why I dont see any 285s and im wondering what the concern is if any.

Im runnin 20's with 285. You should be fine. With that offset I dont think you'll have to roll. I didn't

I don't understand how this has to do with selling wheels or tires?

I think 275/35 will look better. The sidewall on the 285/35 is too thick IMHO.

I'm now running the same 285/35/19. Depending on your drop you will rub. Now, if you do not adjust your camber after the drop you may be ok. It will be VERY VERY close. I was just barely rubbing until agressive turning and large dips at high speeds. I ended up rolling the fenders. The differance between 30 and 35 is much greater that you think visually. I made the switch due to running 275/30/19 and hitting a pothole and bending my rim.

On my opinion it is to heavy and plus you slow down and lose power.

You went from 275/30 to 285/35.. that's a big difference. I think 275/35 would be best. The sidewall on the 275/30 is too thin, and the sidewall on 285/35, which I'm running right now, looks too thick in my opinion.

too thick compared to what? its spot on for the stock diameter

Umm, I'm not comparing it to anything. I'm just saying that it looks too thick, which means it doesn't look as good. Also, I see that you're running Falkens.. which are known to run smaller compared to Toyo's and other brands. Your 285/35 Falkens should be less wide and have thinner sidewalls than 285/35 Toyos.

maintaining proper stagger is much more important that "looks", are you saying the stock 245/40/19's are too thick also?

"Maintaining proper stagger is much more important that "looks" ..that's a subjective matter.

I don't know. I've never seen them in person.. and a lot of people are running 275/35, which should be about the same sidewall as 285/30, and they're not running into too many issues.

..and Falken sizes are different from Toyo's. Yours might look fine, perfect, etc., and it might be different for him, since he's going to run Toyo's.

a 285/30/19 is almost a full inch shorter than a 275/35/19, and is actually a hair shorter than a 245/35/19, so you'll have smaller tires in the rear than in the front. IMO this would look retarded, and you screw up your stagger at the same time
