The OEM plenum actually has smaller openings for the runners. The measurement is to show that the product is legit, since there is concern about people selling OEM as MREV2.

I just installed my mrev2... I had the5/16 spacer for quite sometime... He mrev2 makes quite a difference! I am surprised!
