i'm sure radar detector manufacturers want their customers to have the best experience with their product. they specifically advise mounting it high and relatively centered. i'm not going to argue this with you. you keep posting things referencing things that have nothing to do with detector performance.

High is better for radar. Low is better for lidar. Lidar is typically aimed at the center mass/front license plate. The laser from the lidar guns is tightly focused. By having the radar up high, it may never catch the laser except for some refraction.
I have my 9500i (or V1 if the mood strikes me) mounted just left of my G's RVM, and a tad bit under the factory tint. Generally, if the 9500i or V1 pick up police lidar aimed at me, I am already toast. So I opt for a setup with better radar detection capability. I still get pretty good laser detection with the V1, even up high though (particularly from my own G35's laser sensor). I will probably eventually get some jammers/shifters, add Veil to my headlights, and Laser Shield to my plates.

If you want to tap into a powered RVM in your G35, you can use Stealth Cords. It works great and they have great customer service. Their website has a video instruction for the G35. Here's their link:

If you want to hardwire the V1 using the kit that came with the V1, you can tap into the fuse box under the steering wheel with an "Add a circuit."

After connecting the add-a-circuit to the appropriate fuse, just connect the red wire from the V1 direct wire kit to the add-a-circuit red line, ground the black wire from the direct wire kit, and then it's just a matter of hiding the lines under the headliner and down the A-pillar to the left of the windshield. I believe that there's a thread somewhere about this. You might want to do a search.
