I have JL Audio amps in my car mounted to the back seat just as you'd like to do. I have a 300/4 powering the front components and rear coaxials with a 500/1 powering a JL Audio 10W6V2 in a 4080 sub box. I'll see if I can take some pics of my amps on my back seat for you.

 

While they are not mounted directly to the backseat, they are mounted vertically with room to spare.

Here is a pic of the amp rack’s carcass. The side facing out is where the amps are attached. In this pic you can easily see the angled cuts made on the side pieces to snug the rack to the backseat.



And here is a pic of the amps mounted in the car:



Since the above photo was taken, I have redone the rack a bit. The amps sit totally vertical now, and the whole rack fits further back into the trunk by nearly 4 inches.

Thx MiloX for the pics! I am hoping to find a set of amps that will mount directly to the back seat. I like to lay down the seat for better sound transfer from the trunk .
