BCT7 and Valentine 1 installs

So I have a BCT7 and a V1 on order.... now to figure out how to install these "nicely"

I have seen the remote unit for the V1 installed in the ashtray, very cool...but what about the main unit...what can we do for this? How about a cutting out the "sunglass" pop down and replace it with a mini-actuator driven platform that drops the V1 down into place at the touch of a button? How much room do we have in that compartment (sedan w/sunroof)?

I am not sure on the dimensions of the BCT7, as I have always used a BCT10 (which I may be putting up on Ebay after this - or seeling in our classifieds forum). the BCT7 operates from a BNC type antenna, so a radioshack "cellular" special should do the trick.. .then the BCT7 could be mounted anywhere within easy reach for scanning adjustments. Perhaps in the sedan's console cup holder? Installed at an angle.. with hidden toggles that activate its power as well as the V1's power and actuators? Very "[i]00G[/]"

Can we throw some ideas around? How about a customized box on the dash, molded above and around the a/c - compass display?

I'm open... let the engineers go crazy......

thanks, ted

I thought about putting my V1 in the sunglass holder. I didn't do it for the fact that the door blocks the mirror when it's open. I'm sure it could be done nicely with a little creativity and a dremel.

how about mounting it in the rear window, instead of the front? Is the remote mount wire long enough....can it be extended?

5-1/5" (W) x 6-15/16" (D) x 1-5/8" (H)

Re: BCT7 and Valentine 1 installs

I have mine mounted to the rear headliner in a wooden box covered in matching fabric. Only the two antennas are exposed, and all wires are run through the headliner and to the remote display in the cubby beside the hazard light button (early Coupe consoles) It's completely stealth.

FYI, the extension cord is just phone cord. Go to the hardware store, and buy some bulk cord and connectors, and make it however long you want.

So I'm kinda curious about the BTC7 and the rest of their line of scanners... can anyone actually attest to them?

Re: BCT7 and Valentine 1 installs

I've had the BCT10 for almost 7 years. Kick A$$!!!

never use them alone, though... use them in conjuntion with a detector.
