Getting access to internal busses

For a demo I need a moving datastream, seems to me like the internal CAN (or LIN/MOST/whatever) bus of my car would be a good datasource. Does anyone have pointers to getting at this data, and interpreting it? I'll be plugging the bus into a transmitter and squirting the datastream to a remote location, where it can be parsed.

I have no desire to modify the data, or hack my on-board computers, or anything like that. I just want to drive my car around town while my buddy sits in a conference room telling the suits "now he shifted to 3rd, doing 42 mph, air conditioner on high".

I've got a 2005 G35 sedan.

Actually, I'd love to dump the BOSE CD player too, but that's another thread.

might want to talk to the people at uprev.com, makers of cipher.

from my understanding, hacking the CAN is a PITA. OBD is a lot easier, but doesn't give you 1/10th of the sensors and views that CAN gives you.

Hi,
This is cool. My OBDII pocket logger provides alot but not Accessory info. Check out this...

Realtime info, other than location (gps) seems tough. You could WiFi your OBDII and have him drive around the starbucks parking lot

Good luck, i love stuff like this. Let me know how it goes.
