Anyway to disable the NAV safety features?
Anyway to disable the NAV safety features?
Has anyone figured out how to disable the auto locking on the NAV once the car is in motion? Or even having to except those damn terms everytime you start the car?

Yes - I just did it. Easy fix. Interrupt VSS (speed) wire with toggle switch at back of Navi unit, white/green, flip the switch "off" when you want to enter while driving, flip back "on" so GPS mapping works.

Got a pic of your rig? I'd like to do this as well, but where did you go into the Navi? Thanks man,

Re: Anyway to disable the NAV safety features?
I didn't take a picture, but's it really easy. Drop the glovebox ( I have a sedan, probably same for coupe) and access 3 wiring harness at back of nav (DVD). All three are easy to unplug, but you only have to unplug the one with the VSS wire. I think it was the one closest to the drivers side, but may be wrong. Actually, you don't have to unplug it, but it gives you more slack to make the connection. I hid a small black flat toggle switch (looks like a mini-power window switch) in small storage area near passenger lighter outlet. It's easy to access, and when I turn the car back, the switch can be removed and no hole will be visable.
I just finished an audio system with the OEM headunit today - Focal 165K2, JL Audio freeair sub (12") and ADS 650.2 amp. It is impressive - I did it all in about 10 hours. I'll post pics later this week.

If you were to forget and leave the switch off, would this affect your computer, in that you MPG and Trip computer would be way off?

How do you like that Free Air sub? I have been thinking about doing a very similar install. Focal 165k2's in the front doors, eclipse sp8962's in the rear doors, and either a free air or a small custom enclosure in the trunk. Are you running focals in the front and rear off of factory power? How did you pull a signal for the amp...line output converter? How does it sound? Sorry to ask so many questions!

Re: Anyway to disable the NAV safety features?
I like the sub - it plays low and is tighter than I expected. The Focal's are in the front doors only, I don't have any rear fill. The entire factory amp (Bose) was removed and I am running the OEM HU into a PAC OEM2 LOC, and then into the ADS amp. I made all connections under the rear deck where the Bose amp used to be. The ADS amp powers the front stage and the sub. I still have some tuning to do, but the fact that the car is so tight to start with, and 50 lbs of Dynamat really made for a dynamic system. It was simple, too.

Re: Anyway to disable the NAV safety features?
I briefly tried to mess with it last night. After you pull the 4 screws from the top of the glovebox, how do you get the rest of the assembly off? And then, are the wires you are talking about in a bank of about 20 wires? That was the only thing I saw going into the Nav. A pic sure would help.
I have a great idea for the switch too, just disconnect the Trunk safety switch in the glovebox (coupe only I think) since I would never want to disable being able to pop the trunk from the inside, and use that factory switch for the Nav dissconnect switch.

SalT- you got a pic of your process? I'm about to dive into it, but like you said, a pic never hurts! Thanks,
