Which navigation is better?....the Infiniti one or the Acura one. With the infiniti it is the birdseye view and with the Acura it is touchscreen as well as with the buttons.
On the Infiniti...Can you still program a route when you are driving or do you have to be stopped to do this?

Re: N A V i
I dunno, but I find the birdview totally useless - its COOL to look at - but ineffective. On that note I'm kinda let down by infiniti's NAV. I have an alpine nav in my Z. I thought I'd just need more time to gt used to the layout of the fx's nav, but i still find the alpine MUCH more intuitive - what with the dual display screen (it shows you two diff levels of detail at once).
When I looked at the acura mdx - i thought the nav was okay - but you really have to USE these things to get a good feel. That said, the fx's integration of the nav with all the other vehicle electronic systems is REALLY cool.

i like my coupe one better than acura TL-S one... it's cool to have touchscreen but no big deal.. but when acura navi tells the directions it's confusing sometimes.. even my friend told me infiniti navi is better... he misses like turns because it's that confusing.. you'll see what i mean when you actually use it.. words can't explains..

Love my Pioneer avic 80. Just an awesome unit, touchscreen, voice command and voice navi.

The Infiniti navigation is decent. It's not touch-screen so navigating through the menus isn't as quick, but Infiniti laid everything out as easily as possible. I also like the fact that it is a single DVD for the entire US, rather than multiple CD's. I think the birds-eye view is really cool and easier to read when you just wanna glance at the map to find a quick shortcut or whatever, and if the birds-eye view just doesn't float your boat, you can select the standard over-head view. My only gripe is that you can't program a route while you are moving...so annoying !!
I think the Infiniti DVD navigation system is fine...it's not the best, and it's not the worst. And in the end, I would rather get the factory Infiniti DVD navigation than mess around with those aftermarket units (easier payments, they look nicer, more integrated, etc.).

I actually find the BirdsEye view to be very useful. It lets you see what's up close in detail, and still see what's coming up in the distance, without having to zoom in and out on an overhead view.

Agreed on all points. The inability to access some programming features while driving is a nuisance but I can understand the safety angle where that's concerned. The only thing that drives me nuts in that regard is that while I can access the address book to enter a destination while driving, I can't scroll past page 1. That is excessively "safe" if you ask me...

Re: N A V i
You can scroll the address book when you're not moving, and it'll stay on whatever page you're at when you are moving. It's not too hard to get the destination you want onto the screen at a stoplight, and finish selecting it after you start going again.

Re: N A V i
Well, yeah, there is that. But if you're already on the highway, I figure you should either A) have decided where you wanted to go before entering the freeway, or B) just be hungry and use the quick-stop feature.

Yes, anyone who wants to play with the Navi's joystick while going 70 mph, please stay away from me. I wish there was a way to let a passenger use it though.
