I live in Santa Monica and when listening to KIIS FM, 102.7 FM, when an artist's name is too long (like Justin Timberlake) it will display "mberlake". I know that the RDS function has a 8-character display limit, but is it supposed to cut off the first few letters to make it fit? I believe in certain Sony units it would show "Timberla" followed by "ke" instead of completely cutting off the letters. Is anybody else experiencing this or is there something wrong with my '03 G35 Sedan's unit? Please comment on this!

 

dude it cuts off but its shows the rest. for example you had the Justin Timberlake, so it would show first Justin then Timberklake, then the name of the song. Imagine it as scrolling. Sometimes it even advertises. I live in L.A. also and this is what i see.

I think it's another way of our cars showing us how smart they are. It's telling you to change the channel.

I get the rds feature only on one station in NY/NJ area and that is power 105 fm. Its so weird, people in europe had this years ago. I dont get why US is so behing on some technology standards.

 

So you are also getting the same thing? The reason I am asking is because I have seen other stereo systems which do not simply cut off the first few letters to make the word fit. Seems to me like this is a design flaw because it looks too weird and annoying for the letters to be missing altogether. Any comment much appreciated.

 

I cant cut off the RDS on my 03 COupe and the main station I listen two 107.9 in Cleveland is not even showing anything...
