OEM Sirius Reception Issues
Been listening to my Sirius for about a month now in my new G.
Truth be told, I live in a very wooded area, even the streets overhang with branches.
It seems like there is about a 3 second buffer of music from time I go under a thick set of brush to the time it cuts out. However, even when the brush is very minimal, many times it cuts out. Sometimes on freeways and bridges with extremely minor obstructions (or so it seems), the reception is choppy.
I have the OEM setup done from the dealer (sans the shark-fin). Not sure if that matters.
But, is this normal? I try to catch Howard in the mornings and have a 10-minute ride to the freeway...It's so choppy, I just pop on a CD.
Thanks in advance.

Sat uses line of sight for reception unless you're in an major urban area and you get a terrestrial signal. Sat signals can go through leaves, but not full branches or bridges. If you have some sort of metallic paint over the antenna that could reduce your signal, but otherwise its probably just from the obstructions.
Where is your sat antenna located? The best reception is on the roof, then next best is on the trunk. For my coupe, I have the antenna inside, under the rear window and I get good enough reception.
