random alarm triggering
random alarm triggering
i've recently recieved complaints from neighbors that my '06 g35 coupe's alarm goes off in the middle of the night. i wasnt able to experience it until last night, and a lil later the police show up to let me know that its a disturbance of peace and they have the right to tow it if it dont unset the alarm within 10 minutes.
the keyless fob are both on my dresser - im not accidentally pressing the panic button, and i dont believe that anyone is trying to jack my car.
any idea of whats going on?

*update
i took the car to the dealer, they couldnt find anything wrong. the tech even took the car home to see if the alarm could be duplicated, but it couldnt. yesterday, it went off again and the neighbors called the cops on me again.
this is becoming bothersome.

does your manual say anything on how to disable the alarm??
I know when you hold the lock and unlock buttons together for a period of 3 seconds or so, the turn signals will blink but the horn wont go off... meaning it's in silent mode..
maybe give that a try? I know I can do that on my 05 easily..
Good luck!

i had that problem on my firebird...turned out to be the shock sensor. Disconnected it and never had that problem again. You might want to have the dealer check out the shock sensor.

was it raining??? what was the weather conditions? my frist guess would be the hood pin. It could possibly be that moisture has gotten to it and corroded it causing intermittent problems.
thats why youi need to go buy an aftermarket alarm right away. i have a viper, the two way pager type, - you can adjust the sensitivity. i used to have problems when cars with exhaust would drive by and the vibration would set it off. i learned to adjust the sensitivity and no problems now...
99% of the time false alarms are caused by messed up hood pins. Its really the only sensor that can set the alarm off. You can try disconnecting the hood pin and see if that fixes the problem.
The other sensors are:
Door Pin (one per door, completely isolated from each other)
Trunk pin (I believe it's in the locking mech)
Thats it. Nothing else will set off the alarm. There are no vibration, shock, motion, tilt, glass, or radar sensors on the G stock.
Like I said, I would disconnect the hood pin before anything else and see if that fixes the problem.
Also, adding a Viper alarm would NOT fix this problem, as the OEM alarm would still false trigger and there is no way to disarm the OEM system since it arms every time you lock the vehicle.

I too have the same problem, it usually happens at like 3am. It is really a pain, wakes me up everytime, becuase my car is right under my window.
I could see it being my hood pin as I have a cf hood.

Any resolution?
Thanks to all for the suggestions and sensor information - very helpful.
I'm also having this problem with my 2007 G35x (all option packages). The alarm has been going off on its own every night at around 10:30PM for the last three nights.
The only potential cause I can point to is I have kept it in the garage since I bought it last October. Three nights ago I left it in the driveway overnight for the first time and that's when it started. I thought a neighborhood kid was messing with it or raccoons were dancing on the hood the first time it happened, but I was right by the window when it happened the second night and there was nothing near my car.
It hasn't been raining or very cold, but it may have gotten colder than it typically would have in my attached garage. I'm not sure the temperature has anything to do with it as I have had it out all day many times during our long, cold Buffalo, NY winters and never had this problem.
As a test, I put it back in the garage tonight and, sure enough, the alarm went off again at 10:30 PM.
I'm frustrated and guess I'll have to bring it to the dealer, but based on what I've read from other people with this problem, they won't be able to fix it and it will just waste my time.
I'm not an electronics wizard or car maintenance expert, but does anybody know of a way to test the sensors to see which one might be the culprit? If you think it may be the hood sensor, is this easy to disable?
Thanks in advance.
