V1 Remote Stealth Install

Just bought my 06 MT Coupe last Thursday and realize I need a V1 bad. I have been meaning to get one for a while but just haven't done it. I had an Audi A4 before and from the forums there there are a couple stealthy installs for the V1's remote display.

Check this out

I would love to have something like that for the remote display. I plan on putting the V1 up on a visor mount and hardwiring it.

Sorry for the n00bish question but I haven't found anything with the search tool.

Thanks!

Wow that is a nice install. The only problem is that mounting the V1 (or any RD) by the sun visor is that the tint band blocks it, which effects LASER sensitivity. You might want to go to www.radardetector.net to see some installs there.

Thanks, I've been there but I was hoping someone on these forums had found a G35 specific solution. I'll keep looking and post my results.

I've also seen the remote display in the mirror but that's 200+ bucks which in my opinion is not worth it. I just want a discrete place to put it that will look nice.

Thanks!

The remote display unit in the ashtray is pretty simple. Just tap into the cig lighter for power and add the kill switch. The V1 itself is on the tint band on the passenger side corner. I placed it there cause from the outside of the car, you can't see it.

you may get interference or reduced signal strength because of that tint band.....

As far as placement of the unit goes, this works well for me. The sensor falls just below the tint band but you have lots of room to adjust as required. You can't see it from inside the car because it is hidden by the mirror.

what kind of switch did you get for the kill switch? how did you wire it to the concealed display? which wires are used? all i know is that green is ground, and red is +12VDC. what are yellow and black?
