V1 won't turn off with Invisicord
V1 won't turn off with Invisicord
Apologize if this is a repeat, but I can't seem to find a solution for this when I search. I bought an Invisicord recently, and plugged it into my 06 G35 Coupe. I plugged the yellow cable to the pink one, and black to the black next to the pink. When I turn the ignition off, my V1 stays on. I saw that other people had the same problem, but no one seemed to mention how they resolved it. I also tried to email the guys at Invisicord, but they had no answers. Any help would be great!
Thanks

you have tapped into an accesory wire that is permanently on. you need to access a wire that turns off when the car is off. the easiest way to do this is to hardwire into the cig. lighter. after you get access to the back of the cig. lighter, tap into the wires as you did before. black is always ground.
Hmm, I just took a look at mine. I have the yellow invisicord wire going into the same slot as the black with pink stripe mirror wire and the black invisicord wire going into the same slot as the solid black mirror wire.
Wired this way, my X50 turns on and off with the ignition. It sounds as if yours is wired the same way so I am not sure why it isn't working correctly.

If I have to manually turn it on and off, I might as well hard wire the sucker in. This cable is great, but should have been tested with the 06 before they sold it. Or put a caution that it will not automatically turn off with ignition.
If you would like a refund, please email me and I will send you the return address.
The entire list of vehicles currently known to work with my product is a community effort. People try out the product and most respond back with directions they found to have worked with their vehicle's mirror. It may very well be that in 2006, the mirror configuration changed from the prior years. Through the last year, I have learned that there are hundreds of mirror harnesses and wiring configurations across all the vehicle models. If you have a voltmeter, you may find that a different wire for ground or the +12v is switched with the ignition.
In any case, alot of people have non-ignition switched power going to their mirrors, and they still like the product just due to the ease of installation and removal of the coiled cord. I discuss the possibility on my main page that there are some mirrors/vehicle combinations that do not have switched power to their mirrors and suggest using a voltmeter beforehand. I am sorry this did not work out for you.

I personally don't understand why manufacturers change their mirror wiring design so often within the same brand of vehicle. It just seems to me that it would be beneficial from a cost effectiveness point to try to keep the number of harness types and wiring configurations down to a very low number. But alas, I am not in the engineering departments at the manufacturers, so I don't know all the facts that lead to these decisions.
