for a Pioneer headunit you would get the PAC Audio SWI-PS. it splices into the harness behind the headunit and plugs into the remote port on the Pioneer headunit... it should allow you to use all the stock buttons on the steering wheel

^^What he said. I used the SWI-ALP on my Kenwood. It's not too difficult to tap into the wires once you determine the resistors you need to use. Programming the unit is a little confusing the first time you do it, but a few tries and you'll get it programmed.

I think im going to be putting in the Eclipse AVN5435 and would like to keep my steering wheel controls as well. I know that PAC makes a unit that allows you to keep you controls, however, I went to their website and the one that goes with the Eclipse unit has been discontinued and Crutchfield is all sold out. Does anyone know of another company that makes a steering wheel control that I can use the the AVN5435 for my G?

SWI-PS doesn't work with all Pioneer HU's, just FYI. If there is no hardwired remote adapter, you'll need to go with a SWI-X

what is that all about?

that's if they are doing the SWI-X I believe. I don't think the SWI-PS required the remote.

I have the Avic-Z1 and I have tha PAC controller. I never had a remote with the z1 and i programmed mine just fine. It works well. It is a little confusing to do the programming, but you do not need the remote because it is hardwired into the headunit. Look around a bit, it can be done. Good luck with it. =D

yeah, that's why I think he either has the SWI-X or the installer is really dumb

check PAC's site to see if the 5435 is one of the known models not to work. also check and make sure the 5435 does not have a hardwired remote option from PAC.
