Serious Sirius problem

Serious Sirius problem
'03.5 Sedan, Nissan Sirius unit installed in trunk with antenna on the roof.
I bought this car about a month ago, and the Sirius was already activated and working through the Infiniti head unit and steering wheel controls. While driving home last week I had a problem. All of a sudden I couldn't change the satellite station. The volume control worked but that was it. I turned it off and back on, same problem. Then the satellite quit working altogether. When I push the SAT button the screen says "NO SAT". I assume that if the subscription had run out the screen would at least acknowledge that there was a satellite unit hooked up.
I called the dealer and they said since it wasn't factory installed (not sure of that myself) they wouldn't cover it under warranty.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff

A solution
Follow up to my original post...
I unplugged the unit in the trunk yesterday. Drove to a different Infiniti dealership today, where the service writer I spoke with told me my system was factory installed, after the other dealer told me it wasn't. So I asked him to look at the problem. First thing he asked was that I plug it back in, which I did. After that, it worked just fine (so far).
So a couple of things...if it says "NO SAT" it's a hardware issue, not a subscription issue. Another, if the unit isn't working unplug it and plug it in again later. Worked for me.
The last is to try different dealers, if you are lucky enough to have more than one dealer in your area. The second dealer seemed willing to investigate under warranty while the first wrote me off without a thought.
