reinstalling my 6.5" mid, need help please!
I ordered myself a 1" MDF spacer from Zenclosure, it's on its way, in the meantime i want to go out and buy any extra things that I may need to get this installed properly. I spoke to mike directly one the phone and he said most ppl who installed his spacers do it as plug'n'play right off the bat and that nothing extra was needed to be done...
however, i'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car, do you guys think i need to seal it even better? or will the 1" spacer do pretty much? I've read a few threads on here where people use different methods to ensure an air-tight seal by using weather strip foam tape, is this the best method, also while i have my doors panels off, what else do you guys recommend i do before i put eveyrthing back together?

The spacer is there so that you can install aftermarket speakers with larger magnets. It's for clearance. I don't think you need to seal it off. You could perhaps put a sheet of dynamat on the mounting surface and on the sheetmetal directly behind the speaker. That will help reduce vibrations of the panels and limit any frequency cancellations that might be there.

i see, so im pretty much ok with just the spacer then, no need to do anything else? my 6.5's already have some leftover weather foam strip around it, so im guessing that should be fine...
