JDM 350GT Navi - help please

Hi guys,

I'm almost at the stage where I'm about to begin the process of importing a 350Gt Coupe from Japan to Australia.

One of the issues I have is that the JDM Skylines have Japanese writing on the buttons for the factory Navi unit.
Does anyone know if the buttons on the G35 coupe do exactly the same functions as the JDM skyline's buttons, as I really want to use the navi, and would prefer to have english buttons.
Also, I am assuming that the Navi unit in the JDM Skyline would run off a CD as it does in the G35, would anyone know if this is correct.

And finally and most importantly, If i get a CD map for Australia, would this be all that is needed to run the Navi with or without English buttons, and is the voice command something that is built into the CD or the unit?
Cause if after all the above, the thing is still speaking to me in japanese then probably not much use

Removing the buttons on the Nav is not very dificult. Why not just buy the US version of the buttons and replace them on the Import? I'm pretty sure the voice programming is in the unit and not on the CD - this could be a problem although, I'm sure your Japanese will improve the more you navigate. After all, you will have a visual reference to augment the voice.

Thanks Slider,
buying the US version was what I had in mind. Was interested in knowing if they are the same, and do the same thing. guessing they would be.
As the for the voice being part of unit, agree, would be a very fun way to learn Japanese.

Cheers

I just placed a deposite on my Skyline 350GT, ie Inifnity G35. However, have never had an experience with Nissan TVs before. Has anyone come across any guides available online on what the stereo system buttons represent? Also, does anyone know roughly how much it will cost to convert the computer to, for example, the american version? Buttons I'll figure out what they mean... but going through a japanese menu is not fun...
