anyone know what these 2 wires are in my door?

my previous installed spliced into these red/green wires and had it running into the "input" on my passive xover. But why would they tap into these wires if im running external amps? shouldnt he wire it directly to the amp in my trunk and not tap into those red/green factory wires? I mean i'm not using the stock headunit nor am i using the headunit's built in amp... so i'm kind of confused on what i should do.
Looks Like he used the stock wiring that went from the stock amp to the stock speakers. Just cut both ends and hooked in the new speakers and amp.
Running new wires into the doors can be a REAL pain, up to an hour per door...

ok so all this time my component speakers were being powered by the factory amp when all this time i thought it was powered by my jl 300/4?
is that what those red/green wires are? my factory speakers/amp wires?
so what you're sayiing is to bypass those wires all together and run wires straight from my jl 300/4 to my components instead right? I am running a 2way active front...
how do you run the wires thru the door is there a DIY with pictures? right now i kinda have em dangling, so when you open the door you can see my speaker wires. I don't plan on leaving em like that, but i have no idea how to run them cleanly thru the doors...

when you say "2way active front" most people would take that to mean you are using an active crossover. in an active crossover situation, you would need to run new wiring to the doors b/c the active crossover would live near the amp and then 2 sets of wires to the doors (1 for tweet and 1 for woof). i assume you are actually running the front comps passive, using crossovers mounted in the door area
ahhh i see... did you find that it made a big difference in sound quality running them active?

yes, a very big difference, it was like night/day to me, and the flexibility it has was a big deal to me. You can really fine tune your car in an active setup vs passive which is a huge benefit to me...
