reason being, if you like the sound stage created by the front speakers ( like if you close your eyes and imagine the band playing on a stage, and you are able to decifer where they are at) maybe leave the 6.5s but use your amps to lower the gain on those so only the people in the rear can hear them.
My last set up was a quality set of 6.5 componets up front, 6x9 midbass, and a single 12. was designed for clean sound and not boom. and i loved it.

rear speaker question
i'm kinda in the same situation wonderin what to do back there in my coupe'
heres what i was think:
rear sides: 1. the elemental designs 6.5 'subwoofer' http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?...pid=32&cur=USD
not sure it'd fit cuz of the depth or
2. a midbass that be runnin from around 80-3000 for just some rear fill rear deck: the tang band 6x9 subwoofers http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...number=264-837 also plan to use at least 2 'bass shakers' to augment the sound, these are "tactile transducers" that basically vibrate. Gonna mount em under the seats. they dont take a lot of power and really add alot of the 'bass feel' that you get with a big sub, just dont have to crank up alot of volume to feel it. I value my hearin. I'm not lookin for a sub in the trunk, i had that set up before. It seems less than optimal, i believe you get almost the same benefit from the shakers as a sub in the trunk, the vibration from the big woofers. I just want somethin thats accurate in the low end, the shakers will give me the feell. Love to hear anyone who has used any of the products or has any other experiences that's get me where i wanna be. BTW- i just joined this forum, its a really great place for info, thanks to all who contribute.
