For those who have changed front door speakers in a sedan, what mounting depth is available for a speaker?

I don't know exact depth, but the factory plastic trim ring limits you to a shallow 6.5". I dropped in Focal 165K2's, and by trimming off the back of the plastic ring they fit perfect. I was even able to line up and use all the factory bolts
