Depending on the quality and how much you can afford. I just had my rear speaker wire spliced and used a high-low adaptor...I ran a cross-over to clean out the sound and into the amp...

ok, you stock stereo doesn't have RCA wires on the HU. You can't just hook up an amp to the HU without getting an adaptor to convert the signal. Unless you amp as a high-low adaptor build in. Your HU sends out a low powered signal that goes to a amp. After the amp the signal is amplified and goes to the speaker. The high-low converter takes the amplified siginal and lowers the signal back down so your aftermaket amp will work better.

There are a lot of amps that have a Gain control **** that will reduce your bass output so you can practically turn off the subs...I hope that makes sense...

You don't need 2 amps. 1 d-class amp will work as long as you amp has enough power to run it. Try this site...You can go to crutchfield and that site will have a lot of information for you to read up on. Very user friendly...

You might want to find a reputable local shop to help you out, in that case. You need to tap into existing wiring, possibly add a line output converter, run power for the amp, figure out what to use for the amp-turn-on.....it's not overly-complicated, but there's a lot to it if you've never done it before.

You could learn a lot from the local shop and save yourself tons of headaches in the process, then learn from this for your next install...

I'll echo kai's recommendation for Crutchfield as an information source. For example, amp classes explained here: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-...ary.html#class

Nope...That's not true...That doesn't mean they are the best. It all depends on your application...You want to have certain types of amps for certain sound frequencies...For subs you should use D-class amps. For reason is power and you don't need the high fidelity sound because the subs can't reproduce that kind of sound. You will use the other classes for the sound you are trying to get.
